Create a website
Creating your own space on the internet.
Some owners pour their hearts (and sweat) into their website. Many will live for a part of every day at their website/s - writing posts to their blogs, updating pages, communicating with their website users, checking sales and processing orders.

Of course, there's a lot of spam sites floating about. Thankfully, Google is cracking down on such sites - the hope is that one day we won't click on a link to be taken to a site that consists of nothing but links!  Such sites are commonly known as link farms.

The landscape of the internet is changing rapidly.
Did you know that there is a site dedicated to preserving snapshots of the internet from the past?
(not that 'the past' is that long where the internet is concerned!)

The 'Waybackmachine' website keeps records of sites that have disappeared that you can look up - and it also keeps records of the way the internet used to look.

Your website will take you on a journey

When you create your first website, look at it as a journey - and don't expect that the website you make today will be the same website that will suit you in a year's time, or even six months time.

And remember, time spent in research is not time wasted.  If you have a good domain name in mind - register it as soon as possible - but take your time in working out the why, what and how of your website.

Mistakes can be costly - in time and money.

Of course, you could turn your mistakes into money by telling other people on the internet where you went wrong!
People who maintain popular money-making blogs often tell readers about their ideas that bombed.

Well, now get out there and create!

Sometimes it's hard for people who are making their first site to think of something so technical as a website as as a creation.

But if you are creating something new, or something useful, or something entertaining - you're adding to the landscape of the internet.

You will sometimes hear people say that making their own websites is addictive.
